ROWING
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING LARGE ENTHUSIASTICATTENDANCE There was a particularly large attendance at the annual general meeting of the Whakatane Rowing Club which was held in the Borough Council Chambers on Wednesday last. A number of new members were present. Report And Balance Sheet In the absence of the chairman the report was read by the club captain, Mr B. Norman. This is given in full in another column. The treasurer read the balance sheet which showed the club’s finances to be in a reasonably sound position. Election of Officers The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron: Mr B. Sladden. President: Mr R. Morpeth. Vice-presidents: Messrs. J. Patterson, R. Ferry, S. H. Tippett, R. Price, Mrs Biggins, A. O. Stewart, N. Bremner, P. Coutts, H. G. Warren, C. S. Armstrong, J. D. Rivett, T. Atkinson, B. Sharp, S. Carter, L. King, Dr. Maaka. Club Captain: Mr B. Norman. Vice-captain: Mr G. Dines. Secretary: Mr D. Stewart. Treasurer: Mr H. Armstrong. Auditor: Mr T. H. Morgan. Management Committee: Messrs. Cullin, Debreceny, G. Moore, S. Dent, W. Stewart, G. Henry, L. Carey. Life Member On the motion of Messrs. Norman and H. Armstrong it was decided to make Mr A. O. Stewart a Life Member of the club. The chairman said that Mr Stewart was an original member of the club and had been secretary for a "number of years. The motion was carried.
