DEVOTED WIVES TO BLIND MEN
HAPPY MARRIAGES “It is a fact that blind men do marry and I would like to pay their wives this compliment: They are wonderful women, who devote their whole lives to the care and welfare of those unfortunate men whose sight has been denied them for life,” said Mr C. Romerill, Christchurch, a trustee of the Commercial Travellers’ Blinded Servicemen’s Fund in an address at the Timaru Rotary Club. There had been instances where blinded soldiers had married their nurses, he added, and never had an unsuccessful marriage come before his notice. “Imagine the terrific shock to a man who, after months and months of treatment, is told that he will never see again. But most of them take a cheerful outlook on life, thanks largely to the courage and devotion of the women they marry.”
