HERD REPLACEMENTS

DEBATE SUBJECT Y.F.C. v FEDERATED FARMERS A further debate has been arranged between the Thornton branch of the Y.F.C. and the Rangitaiki Plains branch of Federated Farmers. Details are advertised in this issue. The subject chosen is “That it is advisable to rear one’s own herd replacements on a 100 acre dairy farm.” Federated Farmers won the toss for sides and have chosen the affirmative leaving the negative to the Y.F.C. The teams are as follows: Federated Farmers, Messrs. lan B. Gow, F. T. Mayo and J. P. Caulfield and the Y.F.C., Messrs. F. Broadmore, Malcolm Law and I. Law. ■ The debate will, be held in the Presbyterian Church Hall at Edgecumbe on Monday, September 29 and should prove of interest to members of both organisations as well as to the public in general.
