The world’s biggest door fitted to the hangar at Filton, Bristol, where a 110-ton ’plane is housed, is 1045 ft. long, 69ft. 9in. high. It weighs two tons but can be opened in two minutes.
Unity Among Churches The growing unity among the churches of New Zealand as the result of fuller understanding was discussed by the Rev. L. A. North when speaking of.his impressions of the recent faith and order conference at the Marsden School at the Wellington Christian Business Men’s Association. Mr North said 165 delegates representing the Anglican, Presbyterian, Methodist, Congregational and Baptist Churches, the Salvation Army, and the Society of Friends attended the conference, which met to further the understanding of beliefs and forms of the churches of Christ.
Hill Country Commission After discussion with regard to the pending Hill Country Commission, it .was agreed, at a meeting of the Bay of Plenty Sub-Province of Federated Farmers (Auckland Province), that the president and three other members, appointed, constitute a committee to deal with the collection of data relative to the subject-matter to be handled by the Commission, with power to add. Quicker Access To Waikato At a meeting of the Bay of Plenty Sub-Province of Federated Farmers (Auckland Province) held in Tauranga last week support was given to the request of the Waihau Bay area for improved telephone facilities, and also for the construction of a road opening up the Tuahu Track, which would give very much quicker access from Katikati and surrounding areas to Hamilton and the Waikato.
