Wooden Butter Boxes
Very few wooden butter boxes would be used in New Zealand in future, said the chairman, Mr T. A, Winks, at the annual meeting of the Egmont Box Company. He added that supplies of suitable timber were becoming scarce, and the Dairy Board appeared to favour the wholesale use of fibre-board boxes. Although a considerable sum had been spent trying to make suitable boxes from pinus insignis, no ’ satisfactory result had been achieved, said Mr Winks. Most of the boxes made from pulp' were imported from Canada while some were manufactured by the Whakatane Paper Mills.
