FANCY DRESS PARTY
END OF TERM FUNCTION * 1 Xu. I FENTON’S MILL SCHOOL The pupils of the Haehaenga school (Fenton’s Mill) celebrated the end of term with a delightful fancy dress party which was held in the gaily decorated school room. The evening opened with the singing of the School Anthem which had been specially composed for the occasion. Then followed a happy programme consisting of the Grand March, Old English country dances, action songs and games, after which the evening was thrown open.for dancing, the music for which, was supplied by Mr Cribb with violin and accordion. The children had been trained and the function organised by Mrs G.' Newman whn was temporarily in charge of the school. A sumptuous supper provided by the mothers was partaken of in an adjoining building which had also been artistically but contrastingly decorated.
During the evening a collection was taken up in aid of “Food for Britain” fund and a substantial sum was handed in.
Parents and pupils alike voted the evening an outstanding success. Following were the costumes : Lloyd Cribb, Coon; David Porter, King’s Herald; Patricia Porter, Princess Bluebell; Percy Fenton, Chauffeur; Brian Cribb, Hard Times; Ada Porter, Water Sprite; Tracy Fenton, Pirate; Annie Anderson, Hawaiian Belle; Jean Thurlow, Dutch. Girl; Della Cribb, Red Riding Hood; Maggie Anderson, Sailor Girl; John Buckeridge, Buckjumper; Marie Buchanan, Bride; Gwen Anderson, Sailor Girl; Keith Thurlow, Indian Chief; Marie Fenton, Fair Innocence; Judith Cribb,. White Mouse; Leslie Wilkin, Chef; Bonny Vercoe, Picanninny; Jimmy Buckeridge, Cowboy.
