RED CROSS
MONTHLY MEETING GOOD ATTENDANCE There was a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the New 'Zealand Red Cross Society, Whaka- . tane branch, held on August 12. Mrs B. S. Barry was in the chair. Miss Righton reported that she had handed in a food parcel from the Girl Guides to be included in the committee’s case. Miss Righton also handed in a parcel of new children’s clothes and some tinned food from the Red Cross V.A.’s.
Mrs Sullivan reported that the ■committee had packed for the - centre cases of clothing and two boxes of soap, also one case of tinned food. Included in these cases were goods handed in by the SubCentres and by the Whakatane,
Waimana and Nukuhou Women’s Institutes.
Mrs James spoke on the appeal for Greece by Mr Bruce Watts and it was decided to pack a case of •suitable clothing as soon as possible.
It was decided to hold a shop day on September 26 for the raising of funds for Red Cross General Purposes Fund and Food for Britain, details of which are to be arranged at the next monthly meeting. The meeting then concluded.
