EXCELLENT SHOOTING

ROD AND GUN CLUB MANY VISITORS ATTEND The weather was quite fair for the £IOO shoot held by the Whakatane Rod and Gun Club on August 24. The 35 shooters who took part gave quite a good display of shooting although the conditions were not the best. Shooters were present from Rotorua, Tauranga, Opotiki and Taneatua. Results of the various events were as follows:

Eye-Opener, 5 birds: J. Plamus, P. Jaeger, C. Hartley, J. Hassett, J. Hayward and C. Mitchell all shot the possible. £25 Open, 15 birds: J. Parkinson and C. Mitchell 1 with 15 breaks; J. Butler, J. Plamus and A. Mitchell 2 with 14.

£25 Trophy, 10 birds: J. Butler (Taneatua) 1; C. Hartley (Tauranga) 2; J. McLeod (Tauranga) 3. £SO Open, 15 birds: J. McLeod 1 with 14 breaks, W. Kenyon, J. Hayward and K. Chatfield 2.

10/- Sweep, 5 birds: K. Chatfield, W. Kenyon, J. McLeod, C. Mitchell, J. Hayward all shot the possible and divided the stake.

Gimcrack, 5 birds: W. Davies, J. Ormond, J. Shove, W. Semmens and C. Mitchell diivded the stake after shooting the possible. Box Shoot, i 5 birds from 18yds: C. Mitchell and W. Rivett shot the possible. Farewell Sweep, 5 birds: J. McLeod,’ J. Tebbutt and S. Cooper all .fbpt theapossible. - *">■
