BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING The annual general meeting of the JWhakatane Beautifying Society was held in the Borough Council Chambers last Wednesday at 7.30 p.m. As in the past those in attendance were the same few regularsand no new- faces, were seen. Election of Officers The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron: Mr W. Sullivan, M.P. President: Mr J. Creeke. Vice-president: Mr E. R. Dillicar. Secretary: Mr G. W.' Kemp. Committee: Messrs. Batie, Beattie, S. R. Jordan, H. G. Warren, S. Tip, pett, R. F. Smith, H. C. Richards and I. B. Hubbard.
The Society wishes to thank Mrs Compton, Simpkin Street, Whakatane, for the very generous offer of flowering cherry trees to be planted in Simpkin Street at the first opportunity. * The Society would appreciate more generous assistance of this nature from the residents as it would greatly assist them in their work. At the close of the meeting the president, Mr Creeke, thanked those present for turning out and said he hopeft more would be done this year in the practical side of the Society’s activities.
