WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

TANEATUA MEETING The monthly meeting of the Taneatua Women’s Institute took place on August 12 at the hall. Mrs Grey presided. Members stood in silence as a tribute to the late Mrs Yeoman who was so well respected in the district. It was decided to send monthly parcels to the link in England, members to contribute tinned foods to make up the parcels. As it was proposed to hold the Drama Festival' on the day set for the October meeting it was resolved that the October W.I. meeting be held on 7th.

Mesdames Grey and Bennett were elected delegates to the Bi-annual Council meeting. Remits for this meeting were discussed and delegates instructed to vote accordingly. Mrs N. Semmens was welcomed as a new member.

The Roll Call for the day was Sing, Say, Play or Pay. A game of “Charades’- was payed after which afternoon tea was served by Mrs Hawthorne. The president then thanked the judges and hostesses and the meeting concluded with “God Save the King.” * - • Competitions resulted as follows: Tea cosy: Mrs Grey 1. Gingerbread: Mrs Grey 1, Mrs Hayward 2. Best flower: Mrs Bennett 1, Mrs Grey 2. Best vegetable: Mrs K. Tebbutt 1, Mrs Hayward 2.
