BAND QUARTETTE

HAMILTON MUSICAL CONTESTS LOCAL BANDSMEN COMPETE At 3 a.m. tomorrow morning a group of young bandsmen from the Whakatane Citizens’ Band will leave for Hamilton in order to participate in the Hamilton Musical Competitions which commence at 10 a.m. This year the competitions appear to have attracted a wider interest than hitherto. The local Band Quartette which has won so many laurels in the past will comprise G. Skelton (coirnet), B. Skelton (euphonium), Len Broadmore (cornet), Ken Jarrett (tenor horn). Other bandsmen competing are J. Miles (in the boys’ solo cornet contest); C. Finucane (in the boys’ tenor horn); M. Hunter (in the boys’ flugal horn). Bandsmen Ken Jarrett and R. Wbods will also compete in the open tests.
