The first 16 in each grade will qualify for match play. As the best two of three will be interesting to see how those players fare who have so far played only one round. The outstanding round on Saturday was that of C. Woodham, a recent arrival in Whakatane from Manpr -Park, Wellington. His 76 off the eleven mark was a sign of sound golf and has naturally attracted the attention of the handicapper. The Bobbin Medal played on Saturday was won by J. E. Mussett 90 —20—70, closely followed by L. M. • Roach 86—14—72.

An enjoyable inter club match., with Opotiki on the latter club’s course, played on Sunday, resulted in a draw. Whakatane players will have an opportunity of returning Opotiki’s hospitality on their home course on Sunday, September 7.
