EDUCATIONAL

PRIMARY SCHOOL SITE FIRST STEP ACHIEVED The first step towards the plan of the local District High School Committee becoming a reality has come about. The Education Board has inserted a preliminary advertisement in the “Auckland Star” regarding the taking of land for the new primary school.

The area is on the corner of Eiver’s and Landing Roads and is roughly seven acres in extent. Though it will be some time before any appreciable move is made, the main feature is that, following persistent representations by the committee, the first step has been taken.

It is high time that the committee met with success in their efforts to improve Whakatane’s educational facilities and their gratification at the move made by the Education Board will be shared by parents, children and teachers alike.
