WAR MEMORIAL BALL
TANEATUA FUNCTION' SUCCESSFUL SOCIAL EVENT A highly successful social event was the ball organised by the Taneatua War Memorial Committee which was held in the Taneatua Hall recently. The hall had been transformed by the masses of greenery which formed a most effective background for the many charming evening gowns. These were displayed to good effect in the Grand March which was led by Mr and Mrs J. Goodhew.
The programmes which were used were a novelty to most of the younger set as this custom was'abandoned at the beginning of the war. Music was provided by the Premier Orchestra and there were four M.C.’s, Messrs. G. Symmans, F. Gardner, C. Moore an F. Peebles. A feature of the evening was the dancing of the lancers. A most delightful supper was served, consisting of poultry, trifles and savouries and was thoroughly enjoyed by the guests. The whole set up of the ball was on the highest plane and reflected great credit on the committee who have spared no efforts to provide a fitting memorial to those Taneatua lads who have made the supreme sacrifice.
