ENJOYABLE DANCE

HOSPITAL NURSING STAFF A PRONOUNCED SUCCESS A very successful dance was held by the Nursing staff of the Whakatane Hospital last Friday evening in the Caledonian Hall, King Street.

The hall had been prettily decorated by the promoters during the day. A large nursing ‘star’ hung above the stage. A number of novelty dances were on the programme which was composed of an excellent selection of modern and old-time dances. Dr. Cole made a very capable and humorous M.C. \

Proceeds from the dance were for the benefit of patients at the hospital and during the evening Dr. Cole announced that the sum of £3l had been raised. The Premier Orchestra provided the music and extras were played by Messrs Semmens and Armstrong.

Competition dances were won by Mr Cox and Miss Anderson, Mr Hill and Sister Dean, Miss Runciman and partner and Mr Rendall and Sister Dean.

During the serving of an excellent supper Dr. Cole thanked patrons for their..- attendance and the nurses for their work in organising the dance. Three cheers were accorded the committee.

Dancing continued until 1 o’clock and the National Anthem concluded a highly successful and enjoyable evening.
