Greek Learned At 60
“Never too old to learn” is a good maxim, but it is doubtful if many persons who had passed three-score years would tackle the mastery of the Greek language. Yet this has been accomplished by a well-known citizen of Lower Hutt prominent in Seivic* affairs. ‘if was always,” he said, “interested in ancient Greek architecture, and in my reading I was frequently faced with quotations in the original Greek, so I determined to master the language. I cannot call myself a Greek linguist, but I can now read, perhaps with difficulty, passages in Greek literature.”
