RUGBY FOOTBALL

JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP HONOURS TO UNITED X The United junior team walked away with the 1947 Championship by _ a clear margin of seven points from Paroa and Waimana who had equal points for runners-up. United’s succession of victories, with the scores at times reaching cricket proportions were truly meritorious, at all times. This team is to be congratulated on its excellent performances and the public were assured of a good exhibition of football whenever they took the field. The Paroa and Waimana teams also deserve mention for their hard earned points. Keen rivalry between these teams produced Rugby which bids fair for future Rugby in Whakatane.

The lesser teams have earned congratulations too for their sportsmanship in trying until the last whistle.
