WOMEN’S DIVISION

TANEATUA BRANCH 1 JULY MEETING The July meeting of the Taneatua branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers was held in the hall supper room on Tuesday. Mrs Prince presided over a good attendance. Several new members were welcomed to the branch. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.

Canon Fraser 1 was present by invitation and gave a most interesting talk on the activities of the Luftwaffe over England, particularly London and Liverpool, in days of the blitz. Canon Fraser also supplied a list of names of people to whom food parcels would be most welcome and it is the intention of members to send parcels to some of these people. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Doran, Ricketts and Prince. Competitions were judged as follows: Cheese scones: Mrs Hayward 1, Mrs Hill 2, Mrs Prince 3. Oven cloth: Mrs Hill 1, Mrs Hayward 2, Mrs Prince 3. Best shrub: Mrs Prince 1, Mrs Grey 2, Mrs Hayward 3. Single flower: Mrs Prince 1/Mrs Grey 2, Mrs Hill 3. Double flower: Mrs Hayward 1, Mrs Grey 2, Mrs Prince 3.
