Frost Fish At Kawhia
During the frosty mornings at Kawhia many frost fish have been shot up on to the beach. Residents, in order to get the fish, have to be up early, for the gulls are quick to detect them. One morning no fewer than nine frost fish were obtained on the beach. They are a great delicacy and on rare occasions can be bought at about 6s 6d per pound.
