NOT SUCH A BAD OLD WORLD!
Readers are invited to subscribe genuine stories of their own experience, or knowledge which illustrate kindliness in commonplace things, and which tend to restore faith in human nature in a world where selfishness is an acknowledged feature. For each story accepted and published the sum of 5/- will be paid to the writer. “I have not been in Whakatane long, arriving here from the North Auckland district last year. I would like to tell of a wonderful action of some neighbours of mine in the Kaipara, when a Mr H who was en- * gaged in a reading contract and accidentally had his hand blown off by an explosion just when he was about to commence it. He had a large family of young children to support and a dozen neighbours turned out and worked for two whole weeks with their horses and'drays until the work was completed. All this was unknown to the victim who was astounded when they visited him in hospital and presented him with a cheque for £130.” Mrs R.H.
