RENEWED agitation for adequate deepening of the Wainui-te-Whara Stream which flows from the Hillcrest tableland, and periodically drowns the low-lying area west of Valley Road, will undoubtedly be heard in the near future. { When seven inches of rain spread over two days is capable of "flooding such a wide section of the Borough to the discomfort and danger to householders, it is high time that greater efforts should be made to confine the unruly stream. While the council continues to permit the sale of sections for prospective home-sites in that locality it must shoulder the responsibility of making them reasonably safe for tax-paying residents. Last weekend’s rain brought the fifth consecutive flood within a period of slightly less than two years.
