A minor tragedy is recorded at the Wellington Zoo, where an old polar bear persisted in attacking a viirle young male mate. “The arrogance of age must submit to be taught by youth,” wrote Burke, but of course the crusty old bear did not know that. The result was that he was so eviscerated that he passed on. It was apparently all his own fault, and nobody else in the Zoo is to blame.

Hole In One The Hole-in One Insurance Fuund has again been called upon to rescue a subscriber from the penalty for holing his tee shot, this time no less a hitter than E. N. Ducker last Sunday morning. This player has a reputation for producing all sorts of things in the way of “birdies” and “eagles,” so a “one” was bound to happen in the end. The incident occurred at the sixteenth hole where Norman dropped his shot two feet from the flag—it bounced into the hole and stuck there. The usual penalty was duly paid.

Neither driver of the vehicles involved in the collision was injured. New Books At the monthly meeting of the Public Library Commitee the above books were selected: The Weeping Wood, V. Baum; Forever Tomorrow, A. Dufheld; Doctor Chris, E. Seifret; Before the Sun Goes Down, E. M. Howard; Edward Wilson of'the Antarctic, Geo. Seaver; Journey Through Tomorrow, G. H.
