PRISONER’S OFFENCE COMMITTED IN GAOL Charged with committing mischief by damaging a lock, the property of the Prisons Department, John Savage appeared before Messrs. C. S. Armstrong and C. G. Lucas, J’s P. in the Whaaktane Police Court on * Wednesday. ' ? Savage had received a goal sentence for . being found in the nurses’ quarters at the Whakatane Hospital and while an,inmate of the Whakatane gaol had broken a lock on a cupboard door. The bench took a lenient view of the offence and Savage was ordered to pay the cost of the damage (3/6).
