YOUNG MAN CHARGED POLICE COURT HEARING Found sleeping under the premises of Wright, Stephenson Ltd. in the early hours of Wednesday morning Walter Mason was arrested and appeared in the Whakatane Police Court later in the day. Sergeant Farrell stated that Mason was a vagrant type and had been living with the Maoris for some time. They had apparently discarded him and he had taken to sleeping under the premises mentioned. In convicting and sentencing Mason to one month in the Whakatane gaol Messrs. C. S. Armstrong and C. G. Lucas J’s P. stated an endeavour would be made to find Mason employment in the country. If he came before the. court again he would be sent to Mt. Eden for a longer term.
