SOCCER CLUB

WHAKATANE DISTRICT ATTEMPT NEXT SEASON An attempt is to be made next season to form a soccer club in the Whakatane district. One of the prime movers is Mr Frank Cameron who is to play against South Africa in the near future. Speaking tcs a Beacon representative recently Mr Cameron said that it was hoped to encourage schoolboy teams as well as teams of older players. Both rugby and league codes are now represented in the district and there are ample players for the soccer code as well. It is to be hoped that the soccer enthusiasts will be successful in their efforts and that soccer will be successfully introduced into Whakatane’s sporting attractions. Would-be players of the game are fortunate in having the services of Mr Cameron as coach and instructor in the game.
