Mr Frank Cameron who is well knowrfnil 'Whakatane and whose name appears above has an impressive record as a soccer player. He started his football career in 1924 as junior goalkeeper for the Devonport school team. The following year he was promoted to senior grade, this team winning the championship, and having only two goals scored against it. In 1927 he was selected for the Auckland Primary School representatives, travelling to Wellington to play for the Webster Shield. In 1928, he was again selected, the tournament being played at Huntly, and in six games no goals were scored against him.

Later Activities

After leaving school he played for the Shore Club in seventh, sixth and fifth grade teams, all in one year. From Shore he went to Burnley second grade and played with them for three years. He transferred to the Abels Club, playing for them for three seasons. In 1936 he played his first senior game for North Shore and showed such good form that he was selected to represent New Zealand in three tests against an English team.

In 1937 he had played in 23 representative matches. , Followers of the various sports in Whakatane will follow with interest the match in which this local playeris participating. It is certain that Frank will carry the good wishes of all codes when he goes to Hamilfom
