YOUTH TRAINING

TRADE AND UNDERSTANDING SUBJECTS FOR BETTER WORLD A plan for world-wide training of youth, to establish on a firmer foundation international understanding and trade, has been announced in the United States, according to an American newspaper. The originator of the plan, Veazey Rainwater, Jr., calls the new programme “International Youth, Incorporated.” He defines its purpose “to create a better relationship among international youth today for a better world tomorrow—and to provide wholesome, broadminded education and entertainment for youth.” The 1.Y.1. is founded, Mr Rainwater says, because the world over need a more thorough, well-round-ed knowledge of one another. The general plan of the project includes an Executive Division, which, with the guidance of the Advisory Board, “will oversee and administer all activities of other departments.” It will help “to coordinate the efforts of the sponsors, finance division, advertising agencies, medal outlets, and youths themselves all over the world.”

The 23 subjects chosen cover everything that is considered necessary for a more unified and better world. Some of the subjects which the advisory board feels every student should know include: natural science, sports, world affairs, dancing, child care, finance, music, and farming. A detailed example of one of these general topics—world affairs—would include the following: Different forms of government; analysis of what various groups are seeking; current events—to be taught and discussed on a non-poli-tical, nonsectarian basis; civics; a world affairs club organised in every school ot further interest in this subject and sponsor speakers on national and international affairs; and the exchange of scholarships.
