“WHAT A DAY!”

When war’s aftermath is over v And peace comes out on top When they’ve chased the bull That’s smashing things Out of our china shop, When politics are sensible ' And madhatters get the boot And profiteers' are sentenced To a diet of* brine and soot, When commodities are plentiful And prices fall again And storekeepers cease repeating Their “so sorry” refrain, When the market’s governed By the folks that earn the dough, When tariff walls are levelled, And producers everywhere Insist on their consumers Being treated fair and square, When international sterling Is no longer a smart trick And the Yankies burn their fingers With their golden dollar brick, When atomic investigation Blows off some highbrow’s head And the moneyfe spent in finding Europe’s starving millions bread, When warmongers get the wind up And suffer with blue funk They should be towed far out to sea And mercifully sunk, When all these things have happened Then only then perhaps The world will become tolerable For ordinary chaps. H. SERGANT.
