POULTRY SHOW
BAY OF PLENTY CLUB REVIVAL AFTER SIX YEARS A decision to hold a two-day poultry show in the Winter Show Building on Thursday and Friday, July 17 and 18, has been made by the Bay of Plenty Poultry, Pigeon and Cage Bird Club.
Six years have passed since the club held its last show in 1941. It was then held in conjuncton with the Winter Show which used to be a bright feature of the winter season at Whakatane.
Although the Winter Show Society has not yet been able to resume its annual show .the Poultry Club has taken the bold step of staging its own show this year. Instead of exhibiting the birds on benches outside the main hall as in 1941, the club will make use of the Winter Show Building itself.
Three hundred entries were received in 1941, including some from Auckland, Gisborne and Rotorua. Strong support from outside districts is expected this year, while there are any amount of Bay of Plenty poultry keepers who are likely to carry off a good share of the prizes. The show will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on both days. On the second day there will be an auction of selected birds.
The secretary, Mr J. Waterhouse, states that arrangements are well in hand, and a further meeting of the club committee will be held this week. Entries close on July 9.
