POWER FOR OHOPE

BETTER SUPPLY IN VIEW CONSUMERS TOTAL 211 Qhope consumers connected with the Bay of Plenty Electric Power Board’s mains now total 211, with a total annual revenue to the board of £2OOO. At an estimated cost of £3214 the Power Board proposes increasing the capacity of the Ohope 11,000 volt line from Station Road to Ohope, extending the 11,000 volt line west along the beach, re-coppering with heavy cable the 400 volt beach reticulation, erecting one extra 50 kva transformer and increasing the existing transformer capacity from 95 kva to 130 kva.

The line to Ohope was originally built during 1934 and the loading at the beach has reached such proportions as to require changing the 4 miles 30 chains of No. 8 steel llkv line to copper, re-copper 1 mile 49 chains of existing low tension reticulation and increase the transformer capacity.

For the present, supply to certain sections of the beach is poor, and it has been necessary to defer connecting a number of new consumers.
