Junior Chambers of Commerce Another effort is to be made to form a junior chamber of commerce in Matamata. As Te Awamutu has recently formed such a chamber, a canvass of Matamata has been made, and there is a prospect of about 20 members. It has been explained that a junior chamber does not tackle policy matters, which were left to the senior body. They deal more with civic and such matters.
Gifts For Hospital Gifts received by the Whakatane Public Hospital during May were reported at the board’s June meeting as follows: Fish from Mr Cruse and Captain Carey; shellfish from Mr White; flowers from Awakeri Junior Red Cross, Mrs Fraser, Mrs Hammond, Mrs Cantrell, Mr and Mrs Cannell, Mrs S. Anderson; mixed fruit from Mrs Cantrell; lemons from Mr Langenberger and Mrs Howard; apples from Mrs McGougan; magazines from Mrs Wybourne, Captain Rogers (C.A.), Mrs Stuart, Mrs Anderson, Mrs Litchwark, Miss Janice Free, Mrs Howard, Mr Wardlaw, Awakeri Junior Red Cross, Mrs Mooi’e; books from Mr Downard, Wainui Library; comics from Miss Free; three pairs of men’s pyjama pants from Mrs Hill; bulbs and flower plants from Mrs W. J. Symons, Mrs Sharpe.«and Nurse Craig.
