TE TEKO BRANCH At the June meeting of the Te Teko branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers Mrs Thomas presided over a good attendance of members and opened the meeting with the reading of the Creed. The Roll Call was “Hints for a Child’s Party.” As most of the suggestions centred round colourful and abundant food it seemed obvious that the way to a child’s heart is through its stomach. Mesdames S. Cannell and J. Caldwell whose birthdays fall in June were then presented with charming flowers by Mrs Hutton. Mrs Cannell in an interesting talk explained the designing and making of stencil patterns and then gave a practical demonstration of their use. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr A. Barbour for his kindness in stencilling the branch’s tables and other property. Mrs Cannell also gave a report on the inter-provincial meeting which had been held in Whakatane in May. Mrs Hill had presided over a gathering of 43 delegates representing 17 branches covering an area from Katikati to Opotiki and Gal-
atea. An interesting feature was the presence of delegates who were foundation members of their branches 21 years ago. The prize winners in competitions were:— Best bloom: Mrs L. B. Smith 1, Mrs Watson 2. Pikelets: Mrs K. Lyons 1, Mrs W. Hutton 2. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Butler and Waldegrave.
