GOOD PROGRAMME

AID FOR TENNIS CLUB On July 2 the progressive Whakatane Lawn Tennis Club is promoting something quite novel in the way of entertainment. This will take the form of a concert as the first half of the programme and a specially selected picture as the second half Every effort has been made by this keen body to produce a programme of local talent which will provide the public a really enjoyable night.

In these days of high costs the Tennis Club is faced with an immense task in laying, down the five tennis courts they propose and the voluntary work being done by enthusiastic members, who spend as much of their spare time as possible in the chosen site on the Domain, is strong evidence of their determination to carry out their project. There is a crying need for tennis courts in Whakatane and it is hoped that the public will generously support the club on this occasion. The producers of the concert are confident that their part of the programme is composed of entirely novel and pleasing items while the picture which follows “White Tie and Tails,” which is a 1947 release, and made a big hit with Auckland audiences is sure to make universal appeal.
