WHAKATANE UNION SATURDAY’S RESULTS Seniors Paroa 9, Wairaka 6. United 9, Taneatua 3. Waimana 3, Poroporo 15. Juniors Paroa 16, Taneatua 3. United 19, Wairaka 6. Poroporo lost to Waimana. Two evenly contested senior games were played at the Domain on Saturday in cold and showery weather when the Whakatane Rugby SubUnion’s competitions were continued after an interval of two weeks. Paroa and Wairaka were even with the scores 6-all well into the second half, but Paroa got another try and just managed to retain their lead. United and Taneatua, each of which had men away with the Bay reps., also were evenly matched, but United’s superior back play enabled them to win by three tries to a penalty goal. SENIOR GAMES paroa 9, Wairaka 6 The teams took the field as follows: Wairaka: B. Back, M. Riini, K. Lawson, T. Riini, R. Crapp, J. Crapp, N. Fraser, T. Crapp, S. Mokai, Koha Merito, P. Shortland, K. Nathan. Referee: Mr J. Keepa. With a strong 'wind behind them Wairaka were soon inside the Paroa 25. About five minutes after the kick off N. Fraser scored as the ball was taken over the Paroa line about 10 yards from the posts. The kick failed.

Taneatua did most of the attacking until half-time, but so good was the defence of the United backs that the only points to Taneatua came from a penalty goal by Semmens. Several times Taneatua took the ball over United’s line,' but forcedowns resulted. ' - Soon after half-time Boon scored again from passing by the United backs. The kick from the sideline failed. United 6, Taneatua 3. United scored again when the ball came to Hunt who ran over to score wide out. United 9, Taneatua 3.

Taneatua defended well to keep the score down until time was called. Spells of 35 minutes each way were played. JUNIOR GAMES v UNITED 19, WAIRAKA 6 At half-time United led by 11-0. For United points were scored by Carling (three tries and one conversion), and Goodall (one conversion and two penalty goals). Wairaka’s points came from tries by G. Stewart and Lafferty. Referee: Mr C. Wells. PAROA 16, TANEATUA 3 Paroa led by 11-3 at half-time.. Scorers for Paroa were D. Tawa (2 tries and a conversion), B. Simpson (try), T. Hohapata (try), R. Hohapata (conversion). R. Hill scored a try for Taneatua. Referee: Mr J. Whitehead. BAY TEAM BEATEN At Gisborne on Saturday the Bay of Plenty representative team lost to Poverty Bay, the score being 18—3 in favour of the home team. REP TEAM FOR SATURDAY The Whakatane Sub-Union senior representatives to play Te Puke at Whakatane on Saturday is as follows:

Fullback: Laurie. Three-quarters: Biddle, Cave, McGougan. Five-eighths: Hohua, Hurran. Halfback: Crapp. Back row: Campbell. Middle row: Hollis, Honana, Ratahi, Cleland. Front row: Hona, Merito, Wilson. Reserve forwards: Ball, Martin, Berg. Backs: Nuku, Tina Riini. All reserves must attend. Replacements will be made after halftime to give everyone a game.

The team will assemble at 2 p.m. at the A. and P. shed.
