The Wairaka teams are to leave at 12.30 instead of 1.30 as stated in Wednesday’s Beacon. Motor Drivers’ Licenses The Whakatane Borough Council has started issuing of drivers’ licenses for the year commencing on July" 1. For this purpose the council office will be open this evening until 8 p.m.
Tennis Club’s Effort The Whakatane Lawn Tennis Club, which has in view the laying down of five courts at the Domain, has arranged a concert and picture entertainment in aid of its funds. This will be held in the Grand Theatre on Wednesday, July 2.
Red Cross Appeal Householders are reminded of the Red Cross clothing collection for the “Save the Children” appeal this weekend. School children will call at every house for warm clothing especially for children. The Red. Cross Committee is hopeful oi •&, good response.
