OBITUARY

MR. SIDNEY BURT Another link with the early days of Matata has been severed by the sudden death last week of Mr. Sidney Holmes Burt, aged 65. Mr. Burt had gone to Auckland to enter hospital and he collapsed following an operation. He was a younger brother of the late Mr. F. J. Burt, who died a few weeks ago, and of the late Mr. Harry Burt who predeceased them both by about a year. Coming to the district as a child Mr. Sidney Burt had lived at Matata pratically all his life. Of a retiring disposition he did not take a prominent part in public life and sport as did Mr. F. J. Burt. The interment took place at Awakaponga Cemetery last Friday.
