‘THE QUEST FOR UTOPIA’

NEW ZEALAND PROBLEMS INTERESTING PUBLICATION Among many thinking people throughout New Zealand who are advocating a revival of righteousness and morality after six years of war are some residents of Whakatane district who have gone to the expense of publishing a booklet entitled “The Quest for Utopia in New Zealand.’! This is a reprint of an address that was broadcast by 2YA on a Sunday evening early in January. The author is the Rev. C. T. Symons, who has charge of the Youth Department of the Methodist Church of N.Z. The booklet has been printed at the Beacon Office, and people interested in obtaining copies are invited to communicate with Mr R. W. Schofield, J.P., of Bridge Street, Whakatane, who is acting on behalf of other residents.

Readers of the booklet cannot but agree with those who have published it that the subject is so important and so well treated that it deserves to be as widely distributed as possible. It has educative value to the young people of New Zealand and it gives a call to service to all men and women everywhere. In eight pages of printed matter Mr Symons explains in simple language that although it is a far cry in time from the early Christian community of nearly 2000 years ago to the current history of New Zealand the principles discovered therein apply equally to the life of our nation today. It is a challenge to thinking people, but no political issues are raised, nor are they intended to be.

The publishers hope for a wide distribution of the booklet ' among young people’s and women’s organisations. They invite comments and support to ensure that distribution is as widespread as possible. They have already received a letter of appreciation from Mr Symons and from other well wishers throughout New Zealand.
