TANEATUA GALA DAY
WAR MEMORIAL FUNDS KING’S BIRTHDAY FUNCTION A highly successful Gala Day was held in Taneatua on the King’s Birthday as part of an effort to raise funds for a war memorial. Organised and run by members of the War Memorial Committee, assisted by others, the day provided a very enjoyable outing for the public and the funds benefited considerably. Large entries were received for the athletic and children’s events. Monthly Dance
The monthly dance run by ■ the Young People’s Club for Memorial funds was held in the evening. B. Burnett’s Orchestra provided the music and Mr F. Gardner was M.C. The first of the series of four Monte Carlos was won by Mr and Mrs Carter. The novelty Statue Waltz created much amusement and doubtless will be repeated at the first opportunity. This was won by Mr G. Mitchell and Mrs Ingle. A Monte Carlo was won by Mr C. .McCready and Mrs Sykes. Other competitions were won by Betty O’Brien, A. Smith, Hera Mita and L. Green. A . delicious home-made supper was provided and served by members of the Young People’s Club.
