TOURNAMENT RESULTS Play was of a high standard in the first tournament of the season held at Ruatoki by the Matatua Central Sub-Association. A'total of 23 teams competed in the men’s and women’s competitions. Although the sky was overcast rain held off. Excitement among onlookers reached a high pitch when the semifinals and finals were being contested. A running commentary was given by Jimmy Riini. At the close of play the chairman of the Association, Mr G.. Hughes, presented the trophies to the winners. He also expressed thanks to those who had made the day such a success, especially mentioning the Taneatua teams, the referees who had so ably controlled the games and „ also the St. John Ambulance members for their attendance. Results (2 points for a win) were as follows: Women’s A Grade No. 1 Section: Ruatoki A 6, Tuhoe ' 2, Ahuwhenua 2, Ngahina 2. No. 2 Section: Wairaka 4, High School A 4, Taneatua 3, Wainui 1. Semi-final: High School A beat Wairaka by a penalty corner.Final: High School A beat Ruatoki • A, 2—o. Men's A Grade No. 1 Section: Ruatoki 4, Ahuwhenua 3, Ngahina 3, Tuhoe 2. No. 2 Section: Taneatua 4, Wainui 1, Wairaka A 1. Final: Ruatoki beat Taneatua I—o. ; ' B Grade Women’s Competition: Ruatoki A ' 4, Ahuwhenua 4, High School B 3, Tuhoe United 1. y * Final:' Ruatoki B beat Ahuwhenua by a penalty corner. Men’s Competition: Tuhoe United 4, High School B 4, Wairaka B 2, Taneatua 0.
Final: Tuhoe United beat High School B, 3—o.
