N.Z. BOWLING TOURNEY

NEW PROPOSALS REMITS FOR CONFERENCE New proposals dealing with the Dominion bowling tournament are included in the remits to come before the annual meeting of the New Zealand Bowling Association in Dunedin on June 25.

One of these is that section-play in the fours should consist of nine games of 21 ends, and that fours to qualify for post-section play should be any four which wins seven or more games in its section; any four which, though it wins less than seven games, is the winner in its section; any four which, though it wins less than seven games, ties as one of the winners of its section. The remit has been submitted by the Christchurch centre. It is contended that under the proposal there would be a saving of one day in section play and that fewer fours would remain in for post-section play.

This would result in more time being available for post-section play so that it would be possible to play a full 21 ends in each game, and obviate the necessity for curtailing these games as had been found necessary in recent years through vagaries of weather or other circumstances.
