WEDDING BELLS

STOKER—BIRD A very pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Margaret’s Anglican Church, Taihape, on' Easter Saturday, between Alice Lillie Bird and Keith Christian Storer. The Rev. W. M. Smallfield officiated. v The bride looked very charming as she entered the church on the arm of her father. She wore an unusual long-sleeved gown of ivory self-patterned satin with rucking on shoulders and bodice, the back buttoning to the waist with tiny satin buttons. The very full skirt was slightly gathered at the waist line, falling to form a long scalloped train, the edge of which was trimmed with satin loops to match the trimming on the heart-shaped neckline. The veil of white net, which formed a second train, was held in place by a spray, of gladioli and carnations, the edge being appliqued in satin leaves. She carried a shower bouquet of white gladioli, carnations and spiked chrysanthemums. The bride was attended by her sister Hilda as bridesmaid, who wore a frock of pink hailspot muslin, featuring a very full gathered skirt, a yoke edged with frilling of the same material continuing over the shoulder line to form a cap sleeve. Mittens to the elbow were worn, fastening with tiny covered buttons, and she carried a bouquet of pink gladioli and chrysanthemums with a touch of blue, and wore posies in her hair to match. < Mr Owen Hedge of Hamilton was best man.

The reception was held in the Town Hall Supper Rooms. The guests were received by the parents of the bride and groom. The bride’s mother wore navy blue, with accessories and shoulder spray to tone. The groom’s mother wore dusky pink with navy accessories and shoulder spray. For travelling the bride chose a teal suit, with black accessories and pink shoulder spray. Mp and Mrs Keith Storer will make their home in Hamilton.
