Profiteering in Hospital
The mother of a small child at present in hospital has an amusing tale to tell concerning some toys purchased for the boy. Toys costing in the vicinity of £2 were taken up for the child to play with. The next night the parents visited the hospital they were nowhere to be seen. Enquiry revealed that the lot had changed ownership for the sum of threeepnce. Still another child had taken possession of the money. The parents recovered the toys but had to pay threepence for them nevertheless. Whether the former owner held out for a higher price or not is not recorded.
