PARKING PROBLEM

LOWER STRAND COUNCIL DISCUSION At the May meeting of the Borough Council Cr S. C. Armstrong raised the question of the parking congestion in the lower Strand. He stated that the problem was becoming worse'every day and advocated parallel parking. Cr S. S. Shapley did not think that parallel parking would overcome the problem. Another councillor said that this form of parking appeared to be coming universal and was in use in many major cities and also in Sydney.

Cr W. Sullivan suggested keeping heavy trucks out of the area, but was against parallel parking.

A motion that a by-law compelling parallel parking in the Strand be submitted was carried with one dissentient.
