MOTOR CAR CONVERTED

MAORIS CHARGED MATATA INCIDENT Charged with unlawfully converting a motor car to their own use, two Maoris, Harry Tokona and George Pirere, appeared in ,the Police Court on Monday morning. Messrs. S. S. Shapley and Leslie D. Lovelock, J’s.P., were on the bench. The car, which was the property of Eric Henry and valued at £450, was removed from Matata on May 1. The accused elected summary triayl, were convicted and sentenced to one month’s imprisonment in. the Whakatane Gaol.
