PICKLED PELTS
THIRD PUBLIC AUCTION The New Zealand Meat Producers Board advises that the third public auction of Pickled Sheep and Lamb Pelts under the Pickled Sheep and Lamb Pelts Emergency Regulations, 1947, was held in Wellington on April 30. Offerings totaled 118 lots comprising 50,841 dozen sheep, and 107,541 doben lamb pelts. A full bench of buyers was present. Prices for sheep pelts were firm at prices ruling at the previous sale but prices for lamb pelts showed a decline of approximately 10 per cent. The full range of prices realised was as follows: — Auckland District: Sheep 114 s to 125 s 6d per dozen; lamb 71s to 88s 6d per dozen. Hawke’s Bay-East Coast: Sheep 104 s to 120 s per dozen; Lamb 59s to 80s 6d per dozen.
Wellington-West Coast: Sheep 120 s to 127 s per dozen; lamb 75s to 93s per dozen. Picton-Nelson: Sheep 91s per dozen; iamb 63s per dozen. Canterbury-Otago: Sheep Ills per dozen; lamb 66s 6d to 87s 6d per dozen. Southland: Sheep 100 s to 119 s per dozen; lamb 70s to 92s per dozen. The fourth sale will be held in .Wellington on Wednesday, May 28, 1947. Offerings close at the office of the New Zealand Meat Producers Board on Monday, May 12. The sales are being conducted by the New Zealand Woolbrokers' Association under the control of the Pelt Controller, Mr J. J. Evans, General Manager of the New Zealand Meat Producers Board.
