CATS POISONED
CASES AT KOPEOPEO MANY PETS DESTROYED Whether or not the nefarious dog-poisoner whose actions earlier in the year was responsible for the deaths of some twentyfive pet dogs in the Kopeopeo area, has returned his attention to cats in the same vicinity is a matter exercising the minds of residents who over the past week have seen no less than six cats destroyed in similar fashion.
The cats concerned were all pets, and a fresh wave of indignation is sweeping the locality, as fresh victims die lingering and painful deaths. It is thought by some that the dog-baiter has not diverted his attention from dogs, but that possibly the cats are accidental victims who have eaten the baits which have been thrown about. ' There is likewise an essence of doubt until such time as an autopsy can be made on one of the animals concerned, but their owners all declare that they have died similar deaths, first of all sickening and thpn quickly passing into ’a state of acute convulsions. This new outbreak serves as a timely reminder that the community as a whole has still the task of discovering the culprit and of bringing him to the just punishment he so richly deserves." Once again the appeal is for wholehearted 1 co-opera-tion from every section of the community to assist in the search for identification.
