WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

TANEATUA MEETING GARDENING CIRCLE The April meeting of the gardening circle was held at Mrs Bennett’s residence on Tuesday, April 22. There was a very good attendance of members.

After the reading of the minutes and the usual business had been dealt with, a garden reading was given by Mrs K. Tebbutt. A competition arranged by the hostess was won by Mrs Cradwick. There were many entries in the monthly competitions which were won as follows:

Floral fan: Mrs Cradwick 1, Mrs Butler 2, Mrs Bennett 3. Best vegetable: Mrs Ricketts 1 and Mrs Cradwick 1, Mrs Butler 2, Mrs Sisam 3.

Best flower: Mrs Cradwick 1, Mrs Hayward 2, Mrs Fitchett 3. Mrs Butler, president, thanked the judges Mrs Merrie, Mrs Fogarty and Miss Prideaux, also the hostesses for the afternoon and Mrs Bennett for the use of her home. Members then enjoyed a stroll around the garden which brought a pleasant afternoon to a close.
