MAIN HIGHWAYS
QUESTION OF ADDITIONAL ROUTES In a letter to the Whakatane County Council the P.W.D. stated that the Main Highways Board was again prepared to consider the declaration of additional highways, but as to whether any further declaration could be made would depend on the circumstances that existed at the time that the Board was in a position to give all applications throughout New Zealand further consideration. No new applications could be considered so the Council was requested to advise immediately if it wished to renew the applications submitted last year. The County Clerk reported that no applications were submitted by the Council in 1946. It was understood that the Chairman, No. 3 District Highways Council was representing to the Board the matter of the declaration of the Awakeri-Tanfeatua State Highway. It was also understood that the Main Highways Board was considering the declaration of the Murupara-Waikaremoana Government Road as a State Highway.
