Pride Not Indigestable “I never heard of any man getting indigestion through swallowing his own pride,” said Mr Tom Lamont in the course of his Rotary address at the Whakatane Club’s luncheon last Wednesday. Football Refreshments Supporters of football and players in particular will be pleased to learn that commencing next Saturday hot pies, tea, coffee, soft drinks etc. will, be available to players and spectators at matches on the Domain. This is a feature which has been noticeably lacking in the past and will be a very welcome, innovation. Work For Rotarians

Illustrating the type of work which Rotarians should interest themselves in, Mr Tom Lamont at the Whakatane Club luncheon last Wednesday said he could see from where he stood, a children’s playground which could do with an immediate cleaning up. “You should all be bent upon improving the place,” he said. “Look at your waterfront. Why'not foster the interests of your boys and girls in the planting of young trees and make that harbourside beautiful. Or again there may be some boy or girl, gifted, but obscure because no one has taken any interest in them. Maybe their parents don’t care two -hoots, about them. Well foster them, and by developing them -you are not only assisting the child but also the community as a whole.” Pedigree Pig Sale

In the auction columns of this paper an advertisement appears for the First National Sale of Registered Pedigree Pigs which is to be held at the Showgrounds; Palmerston North on Wednesday,' May 21. This fixture promises to be one of the most important of its kind yet held in New Zealand. Twenty-six leading breeders from all over New Zealand will be represented with splendid offerings and the total entry of 144 head, the majority of the sows being in farrow and the boars of serviceable age, will • offer to breeders and pig farmers throughout New Zealand and also breeders overseas an excellent opportunity of acquiring top quality stock. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd., are the auctioneers from whom catalogues may be obtained.
