Traveller’s Plaint
The opinion that at least one leading Wellington hotel is not playing fair with the travelling public is expressed by an Aucklander, - who wrote to the manager two months ago to reserve accommodation for himself and family for a week in. May. He received a reply that bookings were accepted not earlier than a month before arrival. Thereupon he wrote again last week, and was chagrined to be told that “the hotel is booked out for May.” Obviously" be says, the first-come-first-served principle does not apply with this hotel.
Foresight The annual conference of the Associated Chambers of Commerce will be held in Dunedin next year, and, in -view of the large influx of visitors expected during the centennial celebrations the executive of the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce has considered it advisable to fix the dates of the conference immediately. The dates decided on are March 17-19 (inclusive). A subcommittee has been set up to make the preliminary arrangements regarding hotel accommodation.
